How to Donate a Nebulizer
Nebulizers help asthma sufferers breath normally and live better, healthier lives. Many people are denied access to a nebulizer because they lack health insurance or have little to no income. Giving someone a gift that most of us take for granted can be a worthwhile and rewarding experience for everyone. Here are a few ways to donate your used nebulizer to someone who really needs it.Instructions

Participate in the Nebulizer Exchange Program with the American Lung Association of Oregon. This program assists in giving individuals with limited finances the nebulizer they desperately need. Your donation is tax-deductible. If you live in Oregon you can drop off the Nebulizer, but if you live in another state you can ship it to the American Lung Association of Oregon (see Reference 1 for the address). Visit www.lungoregon.org for specific details and information.

Donate your nebulizer to the Utila Community Clinic in Honduras. This clinic treats all patients (adults and children) despite their ability or inability to pay. According to www.aboututila.com, the Utila Clinic urgently needs nebulizers, as well as brand-new nebulizer masks for infants and other medical equipment.

3
Contact the Utila Community Clinic (see Reference 2) before shipping the nebulizer so they can send you a cover letter from the Municipality of Utila to accompany the nebulizer through customs.

Pack the nebulizer in a box and send it through regular U.S. mail; if you have more than one nebulizer you can send them with General Cargo Services in Kenner, Louisiana for shipping to Honduras. The Utila Community Clinic recommends using U.S. mail for smaller packages and General Cargo Services for larger packages. Contact General Cargo Services to discuss any shipping requirements to their location and to Honduras. If you send the nebulizer via standard U.S. mail, pack the nebulizer in a plastic garbage bag to prevent any water damage.
