How to Share a Nebulizer
Nebulizers use forced air or other pressure to deliver breathing treatments, such as asthma medications, in a mist form that is inhaled directly into the lungs. These machines are costly, so they can be rented by pharmacies or medical centers and can by shared by multiple people in a family if they are safely cleaned, prepared and disinfected.Things You'll Need
- Individual masks and mouthpieces
- Soap
- Warm water
- Vinegar
- Clean container

Cleaning a Nebulizer to Share

After use, wash the individual's mouthpiece or mask and the medication cup in warm, soapy water and allow to air dry.

Soak the mask in a 1-to-3 vinegar-to-water solution, rinse in water and air dry. This will disinfect the mask.

Package the machine, the air tube and the dry medication cup into a clean container for return to the rental company or for delivery to another person to share.
