Foradil Inhaler Instructions
Foradil is the brand name for a kind of bronchodilator manufactured by Schering-Plough. The generic name for this bronchodilator is formoterol fumarate. The treatment is available as a white to yellowish powder, and is meant to be ingested locally with the help of an aerolizer inhaler.-
Usage
-
Foradil is used as a treatment method designed to ease respiratory conditions. Foradil inhalers are used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) and asthma. If Foradil is being taken for EIB, it should be used about 15 minutes before the start of exercise. Foradil should be taken no more than once every 12 hours.
Foradil relaxes the muscles in the airways making is easier for oxygen to enter the lungs. Foradil is to used twice a day normally --once in the morning and once in the evening- unless your doctor prescribes a different dosage. If you are on any other type of medication, including inhaler's designed to be used during an asthma attack, you need to consult with your doctor before using a Foradil inhaler.
Use Instructions
-
When you are ready to use Foradil, place the capsule containing the Foradil medication into the well of the aerolizer, and press the suggested part of the aerolizer to your mouth. Next, press and release the button on the inhaler. This action cuts the capsule and disperses the medicine into the air. Inhale the medicine from the mouthpiece. Use this medication only with the aerolizer device supplied by the manufacturer. Keep your hands clean and dry when inserting the capsule and using the aerolizer.
Foradil capsules are meant to be inhaled. Using Foradil in any other form, such as keeping it in your mouth or swallowing it, is to be strictly avoided. Only one capsule should be used at a time.
