How do kids get mono?

The Epstein-Barr virus is most often spread through saliva, so kissing is the most common mode of transmission. Mononucleosis can also spread by sharing other items, such as cups and utensils, and by exposure to an infected person's respiratory droplets, such as through a cough or sneeze.
