What is profound Aspergers?

The term "profound Aspergers" is outdated and considered stigmatizing. Asperger's Syndrome is now considered to be part of the autism spectrum and is referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The term "profound" refers to a severe level of impairment, but the current understanding of autism is that it exists on a spectrum rather than having distinct levels of severity.

Instead of using terms such as "profound Aspergers," it is recommended to use person-centered language and acknowledge the individual nature of each person's experience within the autism spectrum.
