Can you be diagnosed with autism in the 1960s and later rediagnosed Syndrome instead?

Autism was first described as a distinct disorder in 1943 by Leo Kanner, and the term "Asperger's Syndrome" was coined in 1981 by Lorna Wing. So it is not possible to be diagnosed with autism in the 1960s and later rediagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
