Autism & HTS Visual Programs

Children with autism sometimes experience difficulty with visual tracking, focus and depth perception. Efforts to help children with special needs manage or overcome those difficulties are part of the curriculum of Hope Technology School in Palo Alto, California.
  1. About Hope Technology School

    • Hope Technology School was established in 2001 as a not-for-profit school to provide an exceptional learning environment for neurotypical students and those with developmental differences in an inclusive, technology-rich environment.

    Therapy Programs

    • HTS provides therapy to children with special needs.

      The school provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language pathology services.

      Efforts focused on improving sensory integration, sensory processing and visual perception are among the school's elements of occupational therapy that might assist a child with visual challenges.

    Hope Assistive Technology Lab

    • The assistive technology lab provides technology to encourage independent learning among the students.

      The Hope Assistive Technology Lab is an after-school pilot program designed to support students through assistive technology devices. The lab utilizes Project Touchsmart as well as keyboard, multimedia and text-to-speech technology to encourage independent learning.
