How to Bake Heat Pads
Many heat pads or heat pillows come without instructions for use with a conventional gas or electric oven, making it unclear if they can be heated this way or can only be heated in the microwave. Many people find themselves in the position of having bought a heat pad to deal with back or muscle pain but having no microwave or instructions on how to use it with a conventional oven are unsure if they should return their purchase to the store. The good news is that most of these pads are perfectly safe to use in a conventional oven.Things You'll Need

1
Find out what the stuffing of the heat pad is made of, either by reading the description that came with it or by feeling the pillow. If the pillow is full of small hard objects these will be cherry stones, ceramic beads, dried beans or another type of object which is perfectly fine for heating in a conventional oven. If it is a liquid, or was liquid which turned hard as the pack cooled, it is not suitable for heating in the oven.

2
Put the pad or cushion in an oven-safe dish and heat in the oven at 150 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Remember to set a timer.
-
3
Use oven gloves to remove the dish from the oven. Test to see if the pad is at a satisfactory temperature. Some ovens may require a little longer as appliance performance varies.
