Why do i have pain in lower back especially ehen cough and down left leg?

Possible Causes of Lower Back Pain with Coughing on Left Leg:

1. Kidney Stones:

- Kidney stones can cause severe pain in the lower back and sides, which may radiate down the left leg.

- Coughing can exacerbate this pain.

2. Muscle/Ligament Injury:

- Strained or injured muscles or ligaments in the lower back can cause pain that worsens with coughing.

- Coughing creates a force that stresses the back muscles.

3. Degenerative Conditions:

- Conditions like osteoarthritis or spinal stenosis can narrow the spinal canal and put pressure on nerve roots, leading to lower back pain and symptoms down the leg.

4. Vertebral Fractures:

- In some cases, compression fractures can cause lower back pain that radiates down the leg, along with muscle spasms, pain on movement, and tenderness.

5. Sciatica:

- Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is irritated or compressed, typically due to conditions like herniated disks, causing lower back pain that extends down the left leg. Coughing could strain the back and increase pressure on the nerve.

6. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome:

- TOS affects the nerve bundle known as the brachial plexus. Sometimes TOS pain can refer to the lumbar region and is aggravated by coughing or activities that compress the upper thoracic.

7. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA):

- A weakened bulge in the large artery (aorta) could result in back pain along with symptoms in the groin, flank, hip, buttocks, or left leg.

8. Infections:

- Infections such as urinary tract infections, kidney infections, or pneumonia can trigger pain in the lower back and lead to left leg involvement due to irritation of nerve roots.

Since self-diagnosis in these matters can be risky, I highly recommend consuting a healthcare professional. Provide thorough information about your pain, including intensity, patterns, and accompanying symptoms to help them arrive at the underlying cause and plan proper treatment. Ignoring the root of the issue might make it more challanging to resolve in the future.
