In general, avoid ibuprofen if you have an upset stomach or ulcer, as ibuprofen can be harsh to the stomach. Ensure that the directions on the bottle are followed and that medications with contraindications are not taken.

Receive a massage. Often, tight muscles due to sleeping in a bizarre position on a feather mattress can result in back pain that's adequately relieved with a massage.

Soak in a warm bathtub with Epsom salt for 20 minutes. Epsom salt can assist the body in relieving inflammation and muscle pain.
