1
Visit a physical therapist. Your therapist can maneuver your body in ways that stretch and strengthen the muscles around the spine which can help alleviate the inflammation that is causing the sciatic pain.
-
2
Take prescribed or recommended pain medications. Depending on your level of pain, your physician may prescribe or recommend over-the-counter pain medications. There are side effects you need to be aware of with any pain medication. If oral medications can't control your pain, talk to you physician about analgesic injections.

3
Create and follow a daily exercise regimen. Though sciatic pain can make you want to lie in bed and rest, exercise is actually better for you. Work with your physical therapist or physician to create a exercise plan specific to your condition. Strengthening and flexing the muscles of the abdomen and back helps alleviate pain, prevent re-injury and promote better posture and well being.

Consider visiting a chiropractor. Chiropractic treatments can help re-align the spine, especially when sciatic pain is caused from a slipped disk, and alleviate pain.
