Can you get chickenpox after having shingles?

It is not possible to get chickenpox after having shingles. Once a person has had chickenpox, they develop immunity to the virus and cannot get it again. However, the virus that causes chickenpox (varicella-zoster virus) can remain dormant in the body and reactivate later on, causing shingles. Shingles is a painful rash that typically occurs in a single band on one side of the body and is caused by the reactivation of the dormant virus.
