How to Donate Plasma in Ohio

Plasma saves lives. The liquid portion of your blood, plasma is made up of antibodies and proteins that improve the quality of life of persons suffering debilitating blood disorders such as hemophilia. Ohio plasma donations are given to area hospitals to use in blood transfusions and during surgeries. Ohio plasma centers compensate donors for their time and donation.

      Meet the eligibility requirements for plasma donation in Ohio. The age restrictions are between 18 and 65. You may not be pregnant or have given birth within the past 12 months nor may have you been the recipient of any tattoos or piercings within the past 12 months. You must be disease-free and a U.S. citizen weighing at least 110 lbs.

      Make an appointment at an Ohio plasma donation center in your Ohio city. At your first appointment you will undergo a physical exam and blood tests.

      Provide the plasma donation center with your social security card, proof of identity and proof of your citizenship. Driver's licenses, passports, birth certificates and utility bills are all accepted.

      Schedule an appointment for your first donation once your blood test results come back positive. Bring entertainment, a book or music with you to your first appointment, which could take up to two hours.

      Collect your donation compensation from the plasma center. You may donate twice a week as long as you wait at least 48 hours between appointments.
