What is poorly oxygenated blood cells?

Deoxygenated blood, also known as venous blood, refers to blood that has released its oxygen content to the body's tissues and is returning to the heart to be re-oxygenated. It has a lower concentration of oxygen and a higher concentration of carbon dioxide compared to oxygenated blood.

Deoxygenated blood is darker in color than oxygenated blood, which is bright red due to the presence of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin molecules. As the blood circulates through the body, it picks up carbon dioxide (a waste product of cellular metabolism) and releases oxygen at the capillary level in the tissues. The carbon dioxide is then transported back to the lungs through the bloodstream to be exhaled.

Deoxygenated blood flows through veins and is pumped back to the heart through the superior vena cava (from the upper body) and inferior vena cava (from the lower body). From the heart, the deoxygenated blood is pumped to the lungs for oxygenation.

The proper circulation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is essential for maintaining homeostasis in the body. Adequate oxygen delivery to the tissues ensures their proper functioning, waste removal, and overall cellular metabolism.
