What does platelet blood look like?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is commonly referred to as "platelet blood", does not look like typical blood. It has a noticeably thicker, more viscous appearance compared to liquid whole blood. The color can vary from a pale yellow to a slightly orange-tinted yellow, depending on the concentration of platelets. PRP consists of a high concentration of platelets suspended in a small volume of plasma, which is the liquid part of blood that remains after the red blood cells and white blood cells have been removed. Due to the high concentration of platelets, PRP has a gel-like consistency that is thicker than regular blood.
