How to Donate Plasma & Get Paid in Seattle, Washington

Your blood consists of two portions; the liquid portion is referred to as plasma. Plasma contains hundreds of disease fighting antibodies used to treat blood disorders such as hemophilia. Patients suffering from blood disorders are given plasma transfusions to assist in improving their quality of life. Plasma is also used to treat dangerous burns. In Seattle, eligible residents that donate plasma are compensated for their services.

  Find out if you are eligible to become a Seattle plasma donor. You must meet all requirements; you may not suffer from any disease or blood disorders, you must be between 18 and 64 years old, 110 pounds or more and you may not be the recipient of any tattoos or piercings in the past year. If you are pregnant or nursing you cannot donate.

  Call a Seattle plasma donation center to make an appointment. At your initial appointment you will fill out paperwork, present proof of your identity and residency and undergo a complete physical exam. You must provide the center with your complete medical history. Your blood is drawn and tested for disease.

  Donate. Plasma center doctors hook you to a machine that extracts the plasma from your blood and returns the blood to you. Bring some form of entertainment, such as a book, as your initial appointment takes between one and two hours to complete.

  Receive your compensation from the plasma center as you leave your appointment. The amount of compensation you receive depends on the center where you donate. You are compensated each time you donate, which you may do up to twice a week.
