      Determine whether or not you are eligible to become a plasma donor. Donors must be United States citizens ages 18 to 65 and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. If you received a piercing or tattoo in the past 12 months or your are a pregnant woman or a woman who has given birth less than six months prior to donating, you will not be eligible to donate (see Resources).

      Sign up to become a plasma donor. Provide a copy of your driver's license and your complete health history.

      Go through a physical exam, which tests your overall physical health to double-check your eligibility to donate. A doctor will speak with you about your medical history.

      Wait while your plasma is taken from your blood. This process includes having your arm hooked to a plasma machine, and takes between one and two hours. Once you've donated, you will be compensated for your time. The fee depends on the location of your donation.
