Normal Parameters for CMP Blood Test Results
The comprehensive metabolic panel, or CMP, is a blood test that measures several chemicals in the serum part of a patient’s blood that does not contain blood cells. Doctors may use this test panel to evaluate a patient’s metabolism.-
Total Cholesterol
-
A normal measurement of total cholesterol may be between 100 and 240 milligrams per deciliter as measured by the comprehensive metabolic panel, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
Total Protein
-
Patients with normal levels of protein may have a measurement between 6.3 and 7.9 grams per deciliter of total protein in their CMP results.
Electrolytes
-
Measurements between 101 and 111 millimoles per liter of serum chloride, between 3.7 and 5.2 milliequivalents per liter of potassium and between 136 and 144 milliequivalents per liter of serum sodium are normal CMP results for electrolytes.
Liver Function
-
Direct bilirubin test measurements of 0.3 milligrams per deciliter or less and total bilirubin measurements that are between 0.2 and 1.9 milligrams per deciliter are normal results in the comprehensive metabolic panel.
Kidney Function
-
Patients with blood urea nitrogen measurements that are between 7 and 20 milligrams per deciliter and uric acid measurements between 4.1 and 8.8 milligrams per deciliter have normal results.
