Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects that can come as a result of using this medication. Some of these side effects include hives, difficulty breathing, rash, tightening of the chest, swelling of the mouth and lips, dark urine, confusion, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, fainting, muscle cramps, weakness, numbness or tingling in the extremities, joint pain, increased thirst, swelling, sore throat, fever, sudden weight gain or loss, trouble breathing, and unusual bruising and bleeding.

Prinzide has been known to cause drowsiness and dizziness in some users and it recommended not to operate any type of machinery (including automobiles) while using this medication. According to Drugs.com, you must consult with your doctor before using a salt substitute or ingesting any substance that contains potassium while taking this drug. Also, consult with your doctor if you are planning to have any dental work or major surgery done throughout the course of your treatment.
Usage

Always take Prinzide exactly as it was prescribed to you by your doctor and never in dosages that are larger than what has been recommended on the label. Prinzide is administered in pill form and can be taken with or without food. To ensure that you benefit most from this medication, try to take Prinzide at the same time each day. Even if symptoms fade, continue to use this medication throughout the entire course of treatment to ensure the best results.
