Side Effects of Arixtra
Arixtra is a prescription medication used for the treatment of severe blood clotting located in either the lungs or the legs. It is administered through injection. It is often used alongside other blood thinner medicines, such as warfarin. The medication is also oftentimes used for the prevention of blood clots after certain types of surgeries, such as hip replacements. Like with many other medications, side effects are possible with use of Arixtra, ranging from very mild to serious.-
Common Side Effects

Arixtra can cause some minor side effects. These side effects are usually minor, but if they do not subside, or if they intensify, notify your physician. These side effects include insomnia, vomiting, irritation, bleeding, irritation or skin rash where the Arixtra was injected, constipation, diarrhea, headache, chills and nausea.
Serious Side Effects

Serious Arixtra side effects also exist. In situations of the following side effects, get emergency medical assistance. These potentially harmful side effects are slurred speech, the hands, feet, or ankles becoming swollen, abnormal fatigue, dizziness, or weakness, changes in vision, extreme or abnormal bruising or bleeding, lingering headache, weakness on just one side of the body, tarry, dark stools, disorientation, confusion and fever.
Allergic Reactions

Some people might also experience extreme allergic reactions to Arixtra. If you suspect that you are noticing signs of allergic reaction to this medication, you should get emergency medical care. Some signs to look out for include chest heaviness, swelling, itching, skin rash, hives and trouble breathing.
Warnings

Arixtra is not a suitable medication for everybody, for safety reasons. People that should not use the medicine include those weighing under 110 pounds, those with low platelets levels within their blood, those with active bleeding, those with kidney disease, and those with the heart infection known as bacterial endocarditis.

Before taking Arixtra, you should also make sure that your physician is aware of all of your medical conditions, to be on the safe side. This applies especially to medical conditions such as stomach ulcers, eye issues related to diabetes, hypertension, bleeding disorder, blood clotting disorder and liver disease.
