Symptoms of Blood Clots in Your Feet

Blood clots, or primary thrombocythemia, can be potentially life-threatening. Luckily, there are many symptoms that will identify blood clots before they get too dangerous. Here are some things to watch for in blood clots in the feet. If you are experiencing these symptoms, contact your health care provider immediately. Blood clots are life-threatening and need immediate medical attention.
  1. Primary Thrombocythemia

    • This is a type of blood clot that commonly occurs in the brain, hands or feet. However, the blood clot can also occur in the heart or any other area of the body.

    Numbness

    • Blood clots in the feet can lead to numbness in the foot or feet that are being affected. They may also turn red and/or purple in color.

    Throbbing Pain

    • The blockage of the blood vessels in the feet caused by blood clots can result in throbbing pain, according to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute.

    Nausea

    • A person with a blood clot in the feet may experience nausea or vomiting. Nausea and vomiting alone do not signify a blood clot.

    Passing Out

    • An individual suffering from a blood clot in the foot may also become lightheaded or pass out.
