Sit on a comfortable chair while you put on your new arm sling. Bend your arm gently at the elbow at about an angle of 90 degrees across your waist. Your thumb should be raised up while you put on the sling.

Place the sling's strap around your neck and run it down your back. The arm sling usually comes with a Velcro-type fabric or patch, or an adhesive fabric, that that lets you fasten the strap easily.

Relax your arm on the sling while placing your elbow in its closed end. Your hand should be lying at the open end of the arm sling.

Cover the first fold of your pinkie (the litte finger) with the edge of the sling to make it more comfortable for your hand to rest on it.
