Is there anymore apart from yellow bones and red bones?
In addition to yellow and red bones, there are three other types of bone marrow: white, brown, and black.
- Yellow bone marrow is composed primarily of fat cells, which store energy.
- Red bone marrow produces red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
- White bone marrow is found in the long bones of the body and is composed of a mixture of fat cells, red blood cells, and white blood cells.
- Brown bone marrow is found in the sternum, vertebrae, and pelvic bones and is responsible for producing heat to help regulate body temperature.
- Black bone marrow is found in the bones of the skull and is composed of a mixture of red and brown bone marrow.
