Establish a regular walking program before you attempt to jog with your TKR. Begin jogging when you are able to walk for 30 minutes continuously, several times each week. Risk of injury increases significantly when high-impact exercise is progressed too quickly.

Walk for five minutes to warm-up your muscles. Begin to jog slowly and continue for 60 seconds. Repeat this pattern, walking five minutes, jogging 60 seconds, for 30 minutes.

Increase your jogging time by 60 seconds when you are able to comfortably complete 30 minutes of walking five minutes and jogging 60 seconds. Exercise at an intensity that is challenging yet still allows you to carry on a conversation during the activity. Progress your jogging until you are able to jog for 30 minutes continuously.
