How to Cover Your Toes in a Walking Cast
Walking casts are often made of plaster or fiberglass, and are used to help protect your lower extremities, as they heal from fracture, injury or surgery. While a cast can get warm and be uncomfortable during the summer, a cast can leave your toes feeling cold -- since they are completely exposed -- during the winter, or while sitting in an air conditioned room. Keep your toes covered, to keep them warm, while wearing a walking cast.Things You'll Need

1
Use a pair of old socks. Since a cast makes your foot significantly larger, using a pair of nice or new socks may ruin them. Take a pair of old socks, stretch them to fit over your cast. If the sock will not fit over your cast, take scissors and cut slits on both sides of the sock -- starting at the ankle. This will provide more give, as you go to stretch a sock over your cast. To make this process easier, use ankle socks.

2
Purchase cast toe covers. These can be purchased online and help to keep your toes warm and dry. A cast toe cover is a larger version of a sock with a strap around the back.

3
Cover up. If your recovery requires a lot of time resting on a couch or in bed, take a blanket or a towel and wrap it around your toes.
