How to Treat a Bruised Sole

Certain physical activities that introduce impact to the area of your feet can cause bruises on the soles of your feet. Sole bruises can be the result of significant sudden trauma or chronic, persistent force applied to the feet over time.The heel area is especially prone to becoming bruised. These types of bruises are often deep and lingering, and they can be difficult to heal, if you don't take action right away.

      Avoid running, jumping or jogging, until the bruised sole is completely healed.

      Limit walking if at all possible, and avoid standing on your feet for long periods of time.

      Ice the area for 20 minutes three times each day, to help with inflammation and pain.

      Take over-the-counter pain medications that will battle pain and swelling. Ibuprofen is a common drug that is effective for these purposes.

      Wear shoes that fit properly. They shouldn't be too loose or too tight. Insert padded insoles and heel cups or wedges to cushion your feet.
