Cam Walker Instructions
The cam walker is a type of walking boot that is often worn after foot or ankle injury or surgery. Walking boots are usually worn for several weeks to prevent ankle movement while allowing weightbearing to continue. Walking boots are heavy and initially make it more difficult to walk. It is important to use your cam walker correctly to allow your injury to heal while maintaining your mobility.Instructions

1
Sit on a supportive surface with your injured leg out in front of you. Put on a long sock to absorb sweat under the brace.
-
2
Open the Velcro straps of the boot and place your leg in it. Bring your heel all the way back into the heel cup area and fasten the Velcro snugly to prevent the brace from sliding.
-
3
Wear your boot at all times except to remove for hygiene purposes. Wash your leg sitting down to prevent further injury. Elevate your leg when sitting with the boot on to reduce swelling.
-
4
Walk slowly until you are comfortable with the boot. The sole of the boot is thick and it will be easier to balance with a thicker-soled shoe on the opposite foot.
