How to Relieve Tennis Elbow
A tingle of pain located around your elbow is commonly referred to as tennis elbow, a medical term given to sufferers of sore or torn ligaments due to stress in the area. Tennis elbow often is caused by repetitive movement of the forearm during tennis, and requires a combination of medication and technique adjustment to reduce and prevent the pain in the area. 1
Use R.I.C.E. Rest, ice, compression and elevation help reduce pain in the area. A cold compress is available at drug stores and minimizes soreness in the affected area.
-
2
Use an arm brace or strap. A brace or strap secures the forearm in place, which prevents additional stress to the area.
-
3
Stretch daily. Position your hands in prayer position underneath your chin, and slowly move them to your waist. Hold the pose for 20 seconds, and repeat four times to strength your forearm muscles.
-
4
Extend your arm. Gently and slowly extend your forearm to stretch it without flexing, hold it for 20 seconds and return to the starting position. Repeat the movement five to 10 times, twice a day to increase your forearm's flexibility.
