How to Stand With Correct Posture
Practicing good posture is the only way to correct bad posture. Incorrect posture can cause back pains, slouching, muscle deterioration and even can strain some internal organs. Avoid thinking of comfort above posture when sitting or standing. Ultimately, having better posture will improve your back health and give you a confident stature.Instructions

1
Understand what good posture is. When the spine is straight and the shoulders are rolled back you have achieved good posture. Standing straight, your weight should be evenly distributed on both feet with your chin parallel to the ground. Keep your body relaxed. Bad furniture, staying sedentary or a medical condition can cause bad posture.

Do not hunch or slouch. When you hunch over too often you can train your spine to the point it becomes rounded and curved. To avoid this, align your back against the back of the chair and place both feet flat on the floor. Avoid leaning forward.

Practice yoga or an exercise routine that involves stretching. Stretching helps flexibility and muscles from tightening. Yoga incorporates stretching and exercises to improve your core strength and posture.

Choose a firm mattress to sleep on. Soft mattresses are not good for the spine. A mattress should support your spine when you sleep. Also, your pillows should not be stacked too high; instead, your neck and spine should be lined up straight. If you prefer to sleep on your side, place a small pillow between your knees to keep the spine aligned.

Practice standing straight and walking. Place a book on the top of your head and practice balancing the book with straight posture as you stand and walk. Align your body by making sure your weight is evenly distributed on both feet and your chin is level with the ground. Arms should be relaxed at your sides. Shoulders should be rolled back.
