How to Strengthen a Damaged Tendon
-
1
Analyze the tendon injury frequently for swelling and take over-the-counter ibuprofen as instructed.
-
2
Rest your injured tendon immediately following your injury. Use a medical brace, which may less flexibility and more discomfort, but it will stabilize and prevent further injury.
-
3
Perform light exercises on the affected area of your body. Unless you have previous experience or expansive knowledge in the field, see a physical therapist to ensure proper care and treatment.
-
4
Research physical therapy modalities as a possible type of therapy. Physical therapy modality treatment can strengthen your tendon via hot, cold, laser, ultrasound or electrical stimulation treatments.
-
5
Apply ice to the affected area to soothe any lingering pain.
