Types of Wrist Braces

Wrist braces are constructed out of fabric that wraps around the wrists. At times they also wrap around the thumb to aide in support of the wrist and help prevent injury to the wrist. The wrist brace can also aide in healing from a prior injury. Some braces have a splint, a solid piece of aluminum that offers more support that can be removed from the brace. There are several types of braces available.
  1. Carpal Tunnel Wrist Brace

    • Using constant wrist and finger motions can cause carpal tunnel.

This brace is recommended for anyone with symptoms of carpal tunnel and diagnosed with the condition. This brace should be used if you do things which requires you to constantly use wrist and finger motions. Even if you do not have carpal tunnel, the brace can aide in the prevention of nerve damage. It is also a good brace for those with arthritis.

The brace is basic with no tough plastic or metal inside of the brace. It typically looks like a glove minus the fingers. It also does not have a heavy wrap to secure around the wrist.

    Standard Wrist Brace

    • Protect wrists in sports play.

The standard brace aides in guarding your wrists from any injuries in sports or laborious activities. The brace confines movements of your wrist and hand. Sport Wrist Braces

    • Tennis players use wrist bands.

This brace is constructed out of very soft material so it offers very little support and protection to the wrist. A three millimeter Velcro securing method is used, giving a person the ability to adjust the brace with the brace remaining flexible. This type of brace is used in the sports like cycling, tennis, boxing and badminton.

    Heated Wrist Brace

    • Brace is heated by two small batteries.

This is an ergonomically designed brace fitting your wrist joint.
