This program helps people suffering from spinal cord injuries by offering community peer support programs that seek to educate and help both the patients and their family members. SCI Peer Support Program helps those suffering from spinal cord injuries by offering one-on-one help. Patients are matched with SCI community members, and this service is offered throughout Santa Clara County and the Marysville and Sacramento areas. SCI Support Groups are monthly meetings for both patients and family members. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
-
This program focuses on helping patients with traumatic brain injury, encephalopathy and aneurysms, as well as coma patients. The goal is to provide comprehensive medical rehabilitation to these patients through both inpatient and outpatient services, including home-bound care and therapy. Patients also receive assistance in reintegrating into society, and members from the program work with the patient's school and/or employer so that these people can understand what the patient's objectives are. For those with limited consciousness levels, the Spaulding team provides them with stimulus to help them become more aware, achieve better muscle tone and help them with body posing. Specialists in feeding and swallowing also ensure that these patients receive enough nutrition.
