How to Find a Lumbar Wedge Support
If you suffer from back pain, whether lower or upper, you can benefit from using a lumbar pillow to support your posture while sitting. These pillows are ideal for office chairs, as well as other seats where you spend a lot of time (sofas, recliners, car seats, or dining chairs). There are many lumbar wedge pillows available on the market, so it may take you some searching to find one that suits your body and comfort level.Instructions

Sit in the chair you will be buying the wedge support for. This will help determine how thick of a lumbar wedge you will need. Some chairs already have built-in lumbar support. While you are sitting in the chair, place your hand between the small of your back and the back of the chair. It's important not to lean forward while you do this, so you can determine how much space you really need the support wedge to cover. It may be finger-width, fist-width or somewhere in-between.

Go to a home goods store or back specialties store and look at the options available. Select a wedge that is the width you desire. Try it out using a chair at the store to get an idea of how the support feels. You don't want it pushing you forward, rather filling the gap between the chair and you.

Make sure the wedge is wide enough to support the width of your entire back. Some supports have an ergonomic shape that goes with the contour of your spine. While some people enjoy this, others prefer a cushion instead. Try both and determine which is more comfortable for you.
