Wear a hand brace designed specifically for a thumb ligament injury as provided by your doctor. This ensures that the hand is kept in the proper position for healing and prevenst further injury.

4
Take an anti-inflammatory medication. Your doctor may prescribe you another specific drug, but aspirin and Tylenol are both effective medications. Medication will ease pain, reduce swelling and prevent ligament inflammation.

5
Keep the hand elevated above the level of the heart to further help reduce swelling. At night, prop your hand on pillows to keep it elevated.
