Torn Hip Tendon Symptoms
The hips and legs muscles and ligaments are utilized during average, daily activity. A torn hip tendon can happen during such moments (such as quick movements or strenuous activity), or as a result of an athletic injury. The pain can be so great that it limits a person's normal activities and range of motion.-
Noise
-
If the tendon tears, you may hear a loud popping noise. This noise is a result of the rip in the tendon or of the tendon completely coming off the bone. The noise may be heard when the tendon is originally torn. It may also be heard while attempting to move after tearing it.
Swelling
-
Swelling tends to be a common sign that an injury has occurred. Swelling will occur around the area of the tendon. If the tendon tear is severe, the swelling will be obviously noticeable. Swelling may be accompanied by black and blue bruising around the affected area of skin.
Pain
-
Pain is another obvious symptom of a torn hip tendon or any injury. The pain may be at the point of the tear, but also headache pain or body aches. The pain may occur during movement of the affected limb, but also while resting it.
Motion Restriction
-
When the tendon is torn or completely ripped, it may cause a limitation in motion of the limb. If you experience pain while moving, it may be a torn tendon. The pain can range from mild to extreme depending on how much the tendon was torn and where it was torn.
Knots
-
When the hip tendon is torn, it can often cause tissue inflammation that produce a bump or knot. The knot is usually located directly right under the skin and can vary in size depending on the severity of the inflammation. The knot may be painless or extremely painful.
Warning
-
If you believe you have a torn hip tendon or any other type of hip injury, seek professional medical advice for diagnosis and treatment options. The doctor may recommend medication, surgery or ice, depending on the severity of the torn hip tendon injury.
