Reason for Pain in Feet

Pain in the feet can be related to the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles or skin conditions. It can also be caused by nerve damage, infections or fungus. There are a variety of reasons why pain may develop in the feet.
  1. Shoes

    • Shoes that do not fit properly can cause pain in the feet, as can high-heeled shoes. Improperly fitting shoes can cause many different foot problems.

    Medical Conditions

    • Medical conditions that cause disturbances in the way a person walks can cause foot problems. They can include foot deformities, spinal injuries or neurological disorders. Some conditions that affect the feet include diabetes, arthritis, cerebral palsy or Parkinson's Disease.

    High-Impact Exercise

    • High-impact exercising such as running, jogging or aerobics can cause foot injuries and pain including muscle cramps, corns, blisters and issues with heels or toes.

    Obesity

    • Obesity can cause foot and ankle pain because of the extra weight and pressure on the feet.

    Medications

    • Medications can cause foot problems and pain. Drugs used for blood pressure can cause foot swelling at times.

    Pregnancy

    • Pregnancy can cause foot problems because fluid buildup can cause swollen feet. The increased weight can also cause pain in the feet.
