There are many bone diseases that cause severe pain. There are many types of arthritis that are painful as well as other conditions, such as metastatic bone disease, bone tumor, leukemia, Paget's disease and osteomyelitis.
  1. Metastatic Bone Disease

    • According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, metastatic bone disease is cancer that has spread to the bones from another organ of your body, such as lung or breast cancer.

    Bone Tumors

    • A bone tumor is a growth of abnormal cells in your bone that may be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Healthline indicates that cancerous tumors include fibrosarcoma, osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma and chondrosarcoma.

    Leukemia

    • There are several types of leukemia, but they all involve a cancer of your bone marrow and your white blood cells.

    Paget's Disease

    • Paget's disease is a condition where your bones are broken down and then reformed abnormally, resulting in bone deformities, according to Healthline. It commonly affects your arm, leg, pelvis, spine or collar bone.

    Osteomylitis

    • Osteomylitis is a bacterial or fungal infection of your bone that may be acute or chronic. Risk factors include diabetes, hemodialysis, trauma and IV drug use.

    Considerations

    • Bone diseases and conditions are so numerous that if you are experiencing severe bone pain, you should see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
