Drink plenty of water. Many times, simple dehydration can cause muscle spasms.

Try drinking 1 cup hot water mixed with 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar and 2 tbsp. honey. Drink this once a day.

Try drinking a glass of tonic water once a day--the quinine in it has been shown to reduce muscle spasms and cramps.

Stretch daily, especially the muscles that are giving you problems.

Check with your physician to see if any medications that you may be taking are causing the spasms. The doctor may prescribe a mild muscle relaxant if the problem is severe enough to affect your daily life.

Low carbohydrate levels can cause muscle spasms, so make sure you're getting enough carbohydrates on a daily basis.

Try adding supplements of calcium, magnesium, potassium and vitamin B complex. Your body may be taking these minerals and electrolytes, and adding them may reduce your spasms.

If you are having a muscle spasm, try alternating ice (five minutes) and a heating pad (five minutes). If you feel a muscle spasm coming on, apply heat to the area immediately.
