Physical Therapy Heating Equipment

Heat has been used for centuries to facilitate healing in the treatment of injuries. Physical therapists use various types of heating equipment to assist in the treatment of their patients based upon the specific illness or injury.
  1. Whirlpool Bath

    • For patients recovering from extended illness or surgery, a whirlpool bath facilitates healing, movement and pain reduction in limbs.

    Hot Tubs

    • When using hot tubs, the therapist immerses the patient's entire body in warm water to facilitate physical therapy for the relief of back pain, muscle problems, sprains and to aid in relaxation.

    Paraffin Bath

    • The hot wax used in paraffin therapy aids in the treatment of arthritis, tennis elbow, hand and wrist injuries and scar tissue. It also relaxes muscles and hydrates and softens skin.

    Shortwave Diathermy

    • Treatment with a shortwave diathermy unit helps to increase blood flow to specific injured or painful areas of the body. It is used to treat back problems, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, stiff or painful joints, and muscle strains.

    Moist Hot Packs

    • Moist hot packs are used by physical therapists to ease muscle pain and tension by increasing circulation of blood in the affected area. They are beneficial in treating muscle sprains, and also relieve painful arthritic joints.
