Cures for Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain can result from heavy lifting, bending, falls, slipped disks and standing for prolonged periods of time. Back pain can hinder your job performance and interfere with the overall quality of your life. Thankfully, you don't have to suffer in silence as there are several ways to cure lower back pain.
  1. Floor

    • Lie flat on the floor and put a pillow under your knees to relieve the pressure on your lower back.

    Ice

    • Numb the pain, reduce swelling and ease muscle spasms by putting an ice pack your lower back.

    Chiropractor

    • A chiropractor can manipulate the spine to help alleviate lower back pain.

    Medication

    • Over the counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen can reduce the swelling in the lower back and eliminate pain.

    Heat

    • Place a hot water bottle on your lower back to ease the pain. To keep the heat from encouraging inflammation, use it 72 hours after the onset of a back injury.

    Exercise

    • Lower back stretches, yoga and walking can strengthen back muscles, relieve pressure and cure lower back pain.

    Considerations

    • You should see a doctor if your lower back pain is severe and lasts more than 72 hours.
