1
Drooping eyelids are one of the most common visible symptoms of myasthenia gravis. This lack of control over the eyelids gives the appearance that a person is always falling asleep, though such is not the case. The symptom may also produce double vision.
-
2
Performing facial expressions may become increasingly difficult. Loss of control over the ability to smile, squint and grimace often appear with this condition.
-
3
Increasing weakness in the arms and legs indicate the disease has progressed. Sitting or standing for long periods of time becomes increasingly difficult and precarious.
-
4
Swallowing or chewing food may become difficult. An increased difficulty forming words and speaking is another major complication and symptom of myasthenia gravis. In later stages, difficult breathing may also be noted.
-
5
Painful muscles that flare up with use are another common symptom of this disease. Even normal muscle use may prompt increasing pain that worsens if the muscle continues to be used.
