The three main parts of the brain include:
1. The forebrain: This includes the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for higher-level functions such as language, memory, and reasoning; the basal ganglia, which help control movement; and the limbic system, which is involved in emotions and motivation.
2. The midbrain. this is a relay center for sensory and motor information, and also contains structures involved in arousal and sleep-wake cycles
3. The hindbrain: This includes the cerebellum, which controls movement coordination and balance; the medulla oblongata, which controls breathing, heart rate, and other vital functions; and the pons, which connects the cerebrum to the cerebellum.
