The human brain takes in information, processes it and stores it to be retrieved when required. This is how memory works. Being unable to recall information when needed can be frustrating. In most cases memory loss is normal; however, sometimes it can be due to serious neurological disorders.-

Certain medicines, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, lack of sleep and hormonal imbalances also cause memory loss. All these causes of memory loss are treatable.

You may take longer to remember a person's name or forget where you kept your car keys. This is normal. However, if you can't remember what car keys are used for, cannot recall common words while speaking, get lost while driving or keep books in refrigerator, it is time to visit the doctor.
Retaining Memory

Avoid stress, take proper nutrition and get adequate sleep to sustain and improve memory. Exercise regularly as it prevents common ailments that trigger memory loss and boosts blood supply to brain cells. Engage in mental activities such as learning a new language, and solving puzzles and riddles to improve memory.
