Infrared Therapy for Brain Problems
Brain damage results from a number of things, including lack of oxygen, poisoning and disease. Some brain damage responds to infrared therapy.

Properties of Infrared Light
-
Infrared light is electromagnetic radiation. The wavelength is longer than light you can see but shorter than radio waves. You benefit from infrared light because it is similar to sun rays without any of the bad effects of the sun. Infrared light can go about an inch deep into your body.
Why Infrared Light Therapy Works
-
Infrared light cures or improves illnesses by applying it to your body directly. Wrap the injured or painful portion of your body with some padding that holds infrared rays. When these rays penetrate the skin, they release nitric oxide, which relaxes the blood vessels and prevents blood clots from forming. Because of this, blood circulation to the affected area improves. This speeds up healing, making you more comfortable.
Brain Cell Repair
-
According to an article in the June 26, 2008, edition of "Science Daily," research at the University of Sunderland shows that regular exposure to safe low-level infrared light can improve learning and set in motion thinking functions in the damaged brain. The creators of the study believe that wearing a helmet, which provides infrared light for only 10 minutes each day, could reverse the symptoms of brain damage, such as memory impairment and anxiousness, after only 4 weeks.
Dr. Yamajaki reports in "Infrared Therapy" that infrared therapy delivers quick repair of brain injuries with whole-body infrared heat.
Side Effects of Infrared Light Therapy
-
Nervousness, depression and over-stimulation are reported in some people who use infrared light therapy. These kinds of problems are easy to control. It is best to have infrared light therapy supervised by a practitioner who is experienced.
Precautions for Infrared Light Therapy
-
Test the physical condition of the patient wanting to undergo infrared therapy before having the therapy. Avoid this therapy if you are taking any medications that make eye cell death occur or if your skin is overly sensitive to the sun. If you have a history of mania or another disorder that affects your skin or nervous system, avoid infrared therapy.
