What Are the Causes of Frontal Seizures?

The causes of frontal seizures are tumors in the frontal lobe of the brain, vascular malformations, traumatic injuries to the frontal lobe of the brain and autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy.

Tumors

• Seizures, weakness, personality changes and speech disturbances are results of frontal seizures. The tumors can be cancerous or benign.

Vascular Malformations

• Vascular malformations are abnormal blood vessels in the brain, and frontal lobe seizures are a consequence of these malformations.

Traumatic Injuries to the Frontal Lobe

• Head trauma injuries to the frontal lobe cause seizures, some paralysis, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, personality changes and difficulty communicating. These conditions occur depending on the severity of the head trauma.

Autosomal Dominant Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy

• Autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy is an inherited disorder. These seizures last from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. The seizures range from awakening an individual to uncanny effects that are tonic or dystonic.

Frontal Lobe Epilepsy

• Tumors, vascular malformations, traumatic head injuries and autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy are all possible causes of frontal seizures, but in most occurrences, the causes of frontal seizures are unidentified.
