The body has many unique parts that make it function, and the femoral artery is one of those that are often overlooked but easy to understand.

Fermoral Artery

• The femoral artery is the main artery that supplies blood and oxygen to the legs, but it particularly supports the thigh region. In emergency situations, the pulse located in the femoral artery is often taken.

Femoral Artery Location

• The femoral artery is located a little beneath the groin area and continues down along the front of the thigh. Once it hits the middle of the thigh it merges to become the popliteal artery.

Scrotums

• Most males' scrotums are supplied blood and oxygen from the femoral artery's external pudendal branches. This allows the scrotum to function at its peak temperature and to house the testis, which contain sperm.

UFE

• Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) procedures are often performed by doctors or other medical professionals. They begin by making a slit in the femoral artery to insert small pebbles that shrink fibroids in women. This is known as a quick, non-invasive, outpatient procedure.
