Tegretol is prescribed for the treatment of seizure disorders such as epilepsy. Tegretol is also prescribed for trigeminal neuralgia and also is used as a mood stabilizer for the treatment of bipolar disorder.
Common Side Effects

Dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting can occur while taking Tegretol. Your skin is more sensitive to the sunlight and precaution should be taken to prevent sunburn.

Consult your doctor if you experience an allergic reaction to Tegretol which might include rashes, fever, breathing difficulty or hives.
Changes to Report

Extreme mood or behavior changes should be reported to your doctor. Suicidal thoughts may be a severe side effect of taking Tegretol and you should seek help immediately.
