How to Speed Up Reflexes

Most do not realize just how important quick reflexes are. They think that good reflexes are only for sports and the like, and do not give them a second thought. However, people utilize their reflexes hundreds of times a day without knowing it. Therefore, it benefits everyone to speed up his reflexes in order to avoid that car accident or catch that falling glass about to crash to the floor. Read on to learn how to speed up reflexes.

      Take a run through an unfamiliar wooded area. Running through an unfamiliar area such as the woods will force you to react to the environment around you without thinking. If there are no safe woods available, you may want to set up an obstacle course to run through. Obviously, you want to be safe, so make sure these woods are close to a populated area and carry a cell phone to call for help if there is an accident.

      Play games that help with reaction time such as dodge ball. Dodge ball is an excellent way to help improve your reflexes by throwing and dodging the balls all at one time. These types of games force you react and not think about what you are doing--besides it is fun.

      Use video games to improve your hand and eye flexes. Video games make you act quickly and coordinate the vision with the hand to react to a simulated situation. With gaming platforms such as the Wii becoming more and more popular, a total body interactive experience they also improve your overall reflexes as well.

      Hold a pen out in front of you and then shift your focus rapidly to speed up your reflexes. Take a pen, hold it out at arms length, and then focus on an object that is across the room. Then repeatedly shift your vision between the pen and the other object. This increases your vision reflexes, which in turn speeds up your overall reflexes.

      Bounce a ball off the wall and catch it to improve reflexes. To make this exercise more challenging, use different types of balls to throw against the wall. In addition, you can stand farther or closer to the wall and throw the ball at various angles, then try to catch it to speed up your reflexes.
