Ask your healthcare provider about other effects of your brain surgery and how long it may take you to recover based on the type and extensiveness of your surgery.

Realize that you will need to start your rehabilitation as soon as you can get up and around. This will build your confidence and lift your spirits as you see improvement in your fitness level.

Know that you may feel dizziness or confusion following brain surgery. This can be upsetting, but it is normal and occur sporadically for a while. If you are worried about this, discuss it with your doctor.

Allow time to pass. You may feel worse just after your brain surgery than you did before. You body has to recover from the trauma of the surgery. It may seem to have worsened your symptoms; however, this is temporary.

Understand that you will need to keep an eye out for new symptoms. The swelling of your brain may cause you to feel week, lose your balance easily, cause mood and personality changes and problems with your speech. It can take days or even months for you to recover, but these symptoms should go away as your recovery proceeds.
