Is there a natural cure for neuroma?

Neuropathy has no cure, but certain things can help relieve the symptoms.

- Vitamin supplements: B vitamins including B1, B6 and B12 are needed to produce myelin, the fatty sheath that protects your nerve cells. These vitamins are also essential for red blood cells, which carry oxygen to your organs.

- Acupuncture: stimulates small nerve fibers, thereby reducing pain signals and releasing natural painkilling endorphins. However, its effect on neuroma pain relief requires more scientific validation.

- Cold therapy or ice packs: help to reduce inflammation and swelling around neuroma. Apply cold packs to the painful area for 10-15 minutes several times a day.

- Massage: is believed to help disperse the build-up around neuroma, relieve pressure and improve local blood flow. It also might trigger the release of certain painkilling hormones called endorphins.

- Exercises: there are few exercises that can be done to stretch the plantar nerve and relieve some of the pain:

- Sit with your foot flat on the floor, and cross your legs at your ankle to pull your forefoot toward your shin until you feel a stretch in the arch.

- Grab a towel with both hands and place it under the outside of your foot. Pull the towel gently toward your shin, keeping the affected ball of your foot close to the floor.

- Gently pull the toes away from the feet, with special emphasis on the middle toe, and push it slightly toward the affected part of the foot to relieve the nerve.
